Job description

As our junior sales engineer, your main responsibilities revolve around managing purchase orders and helping clients choose the right sensors and controls for their specific needs.


Your primary objectives are as follows:

  • Customer Engagement: Execute an annual sales plan to gather essential information about each customer in your portfolio and identify new opportunities. Ensure timely responses to customer inquiries, and if you lack the necessary information, consult with the Intempco Sales Manager.
  • Customer Assessment: Conduct a formal annual review with every assigned customer, such as distributors, to evaluate their effectiveness, profitability for Intempco, and growth potential. Collaborate with high-performing clients to set targets and objectives while recommending strategies for underperforming ones. Maintain strong working relationships with key customer personnel, including executive management.
  • Lead Management: Actively pursue and close leads that are assigned to you and regularly report on your progress.
  • Training: Provide product and application training to distributors and customers with a clear expectation of a measurable return on the time and resources invested.
  • Communication: Maintain open and direct communication with Sales Management, Marketing, Engineering, and other relevant parts of the organization on significant matters.

Building and nurturing client relationships should be your top priority, along with actively pursuing opportunities and efficiently managing leads. Your insights and reports should be clear, concise, and timely, enabling the organization to make informed decisions.

  • Distributor Requirements: Understand the unique needs and expectations of your distributors and work to fulfill them.


To achieve your goals:

  • Follow the sales process comprehensively at all levels and contacts, including users, distributors, and manufacturers.
  • Influence product specifications in favor of our product strengths to maximize our success.
  • Optimize Intempco's profit margins for all customers and distributors.
  • Manage your time efficiently, emphasizing actual selling time over administrative and non-productive tasks.
  • Continuously engage in prospecting to maintain a healthy pipeline of new sales opportunities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes and self-directed education to align with company and personal business objectives.
  • Suggest product and service innovations that enhance customer satisfaction and revenue.
  • Promptly promote and sell new products to meet sales targets quickly.
  • Evaluate and monitor your progress, making adjustments as necessary to improve overall performance.
  • Monitor territory seal assemblers for proper equipment, certifications, and use of authorized components.



  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven expertise and experience in the sales of measurement (temperature, level, pressure, humidity sensors) and control products.
  • Capable of working effectively with existing accounts and their personnel involved in specifying, selecting, and purchasing the Company's products as well as distributors and target accounts in Canada-USA markets.
  • Thorough knowledge of instrumentation products, their applications, features, and benefits, and a thorough knowledge of all market segments in which the products are applied and sold. Initial training period (roughly 3 months) to acquire knowledge of Intempco products.
  • Proven ability to work independently and in teams to accomplish targeted booking objectives.
  • Expertise in interpreting and writing specifications and in negotiating and closing orders.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct instructional and promotional training and seminars involving the technical aspects of instrument products.
  • High computer skills are required, especially in Excel, Word, Microsoft, PowerPoint, and Odoo ERP.


Nice to have:

  • Solidworks, QuarkXpress, and R&D experience.
